2014 Forte Sedan Debuts in the USA

The brand new 2014 Forte from KMA (or Kia Motors America) made its official public debut during the 2012 Los Angeles International Auto Show to much praise and it is going to be up for sale early 2013 from Kia dealerships.

This small car is sure to win hearts of the small car lovers. It has replaced its predecessor, which was very successful right from the time it was launched in 2009.

The all-new compact car has been placed between the sub-compact sedan Rio and the mid-size sedan Optima.

It has a number of great new features and is more spacious than the previous model, allowing five passengers and their belongings with ease.

The car is available in two models: LX and EX and each has its own features and qualities, which make them stand apart from the crowd.

The Engines:
- LX model: This model comes with a standard 1.8-liter engine. The horsepower it offers is 148 at 6,500 rpm and 131 lb. ft. torque at 4,700 rpm.

You can either go for the standard six speed manual transmission or the six speed automatic gearbox, which is optional. Both these direct the power into the front wheels of the vehicle.

-EX model: This model has a standard 2.0-liter engine. It has more horsepower than the LX model engine, at 173 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb. ft. torque at 4,700 rpm. This model offers the six speed automatic transmission only.

Both the models come with a dual continuously variable valve timing along with lightweight intake. This feature has reduced the weight by a great 30%.

Also, you will find below the cylinder block, an aluminum bed plate. This functions to reduce the NUVH levels of the engine and also to enhance the block rigidity.

The tires:

LX model has 195/65R-15 tires, which are standard. You can always choose the optional 205/55R-16 tires on alloy wheels measuring 16 inches.

EX model has the 55R series as the standard tires and the optional ones are on 17-inch alloy wheels, 215/45-17 tires.

The body:

The new 2014 Forte is 1.2 inches longer, 0.2 inches wider, and 0.6 inches lower when compared to the previous model. The wheelbase measures 106.3 inches, which is about two inches longer.

The car boasts of a coupled torsion beam rear axle and McPherson strut front suspension. The hydraulic system of the previous version has been replaced by electric power steering in the new 2014 Forte.

There is also the option of FlexSteer with three settings: Normal, Comfort, and Sport. You can choose the setting you are most comfortable with. Each mode requires different steering effort.
